
Diahann
Billings-Burford
Diahann served as Executive Director, Corporate Responsibility for Time Warner Inc., where she oversaw programs and resources to support community engagement and investment. Previously, Diahann headed NYC Service, a division of the Mayor’s office that helped residents connect to service opportunities more easily, and worked as Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs for City Year. She has significant experience with children through her work with charter schools early in her career and in various roles at Prep-for-Prep.

John
Bridgeland
John is the Founder and CEO of Civic, a social enterprise firm. He is also Vice Chair of Service Year Alliance at The Aspen Institute, (which promotes experiencing a service year for all 18 to 28 year-olds), Co-Convener of GradNation (targeting a 90 percent high school graduation rate by 2020), and Vice Chairman of Malaria No More. “Bridge” served under both President Barak Obama and President George W. Bush.

Julie
Franklin
Julie is an active member of a variety of nonprofit organizations focused on children, education and social justice. She has mentored over 100 students through the Posse Foundation, Teach for America, Women of Tomorrow and Achieve Miami.
Julie graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and remains active with the School. She serves as an advisor to The Center for High Impact Philanthropy at The University of Pennsylvania and chairs the marketing committee of The School of Social Policy and Practice. Ms. Franklin is also actively involved in the Trustees’ Council of Penn Women.

John
Gomperts
John serves as President and CEO of America’s Promise Alliance, an organization devoted to helping create the conditions for success for all young people. America’s Promise is the nation’s largest partnership of its kind, bringing together hundreds of national nonprofits, businesses, communities and ordinary citizens. Prior to his current work, John held the position of Director of AmeriCorps, with a responsibility for implementing the bipartisan Kennedy Serve America Act. He has also worked in senior leadership roles in numerous non-profit organizations.

Noguera
Dr. Noguera is the Distinguished Professor of Education at the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies and Faculty Director for the Center for the Transformation of Schools at UCLA. He is a critically acclaimed scholar, a dynamic speaker and a committed activist. His work focuses on a broad range of issues related to education, social justice and public policy. He is the author of several best-selling books and is a highly sought-after public speaker and international consultant.

David
Shapiro
David Shapiro is the CEO of MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, the unifying champion for expanding quality youth mentoring relationships. Under Shapiro’s leadership, MENTOR has been highlighted by the Social Impact Exchange, the Stanford Social Innovation Review and Grantmakers for Effective Organizations and operates the National Mentoring Resource Center.
David was previously the CEO of MENTOR’s Massachusetts affiliate, Mass Mentoring Partnership and he has held positions with the U.S. Golf Association Foundation and the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay. He chaired the Mass Nonprofit Network board and serves as a volunteer leader with America’s Promise Alliance, Friends of the Children National and Institute for Nonprofit Practice.
